An excellent listening experience.

One of the best of this category fifty-fifty if the cover is a hundred years out of step with the time of the story.

A skillful storyline.

I don't care for sex scenes, just the story is good. Near of the characters are likable.
There is a small hint of the damage of war on a person, more than to the point comments, and the difference of grade.
I actually enjoyed the except I'k not a fan of sex scenes.

Adventurous, Fun, Sexy, and Wishful Thinking?

Is there anything y'all would alter well-nigh this book?

I idea that the story was decent and that it had some actually cool characters. I would've liked to see some female characters. Literally, zero in-depth female characters are in this book. They mention Karl'south mother a little bit and at that place's the women at the party, only I would've liked to run across some strong female person characters. This book seemed to want to put a gay couple in the heart of a time when there was a strong fear, distain, and disgust toward all people who showed interest in that community. It would've been absurd if there was this kick-a** female character that maybe was a spy with Reese? I don't know. ---As well, yes, tell the love story, I'thousand totally fine with that, but if in that location was more political/nobleman intrigue, I call back the volume would've been better, more than depth than just erotic novels, and longer. It'due south like these authors are pumping out brusque gay erotic novels just to become to a certain number. I'chiliad non trying to take away from the good qualities of this book, but I think information technology needed more on the story and intrigue side versus the honey story side. ---This bugged me so much, but the authors decided to use a variation of these words and then many times in this volume that I started to roll my eyes. I tin't actually write what i of the words is, considering I desire this review to not have any swears or anything that could get information technology taken down. In some way, these words were used together: his (word for male person genitalia that starts with the tertiary letter of the alphabet) twitched/ his c*** twitched/ my c*** twitched/ everyone's c*** twitched. Okay, that final 1 was trying to be funny. But, I'k serious, it was used way too much. And, it actually isn't sexy to think of it moving with that word. I become what they're trying to say, but it merely is not a sexy word to use when thinking of a man's ballocks and what it does and tin can practise. (By the way, I know what you might be thinking. The C word for men was used to draw that anatomy as far back equally the 17th century or and then. I did look it up. I too had to wait up another couple of things that would exist correct at home if there was a gimmicky setting in a novel, only seems out of identify in this one).

Would yous recommend The Nobleman and the Spy to your friends? Why or why not?

Gay friends: absolutely. Female friends: depends on which friends. Straight male friends: HEAVENS NO!! -- This kind of thing tends to make the straight male uncomfortable.

Have y'all listened to any of Todd Scott's other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my starting time. I have no idea what he looks like, but I kind of brutal in dearest with is vox (when he was reading from Reese'southward POV. It was always in tertiary person, but the book did similar to zoom in on Karl and Reese at separate moments. So it's more than of a third person limited, but with 2 characters instead of just one). Then, Mr. Scott as Reese was sexy and really charming. Karl too obviously.

Did The Nobleman and the Spy inspire you to practise anything?

I was going to wait until the boosted comments section, but I gauge this fits here. 1: yep, information technology did inspire me to start writing more often. I want there to exist gay novels written by a gay human being out there (Not that I heed these ones. I liked this 1 and I LOVED 'Nada at the Bone' by Jane Seville. I but would similar to exist ane of the new gay male authors that comes out and tin help these books get out there more.) --What I said before though, I had trouble getting through this book. I wanted this review to exist entirely about the books and non my personal feelings/manus-ups, but this book made me sad every time I went back to it. I knew that I wanted to finish it, because I really wanted to know what was going to happen with the ii men; however, I could simply take information technology in short doses. Again, that is my personal hangup, but it did foreclose me from devouring the book like I ordinarily would accept.

Whatever additional comments?

This has to be said. I know that there were homosexuals in early 20th century and before, obviously. My problem is that they seem to almost be a couple in this book, which never could've happened. I mean, maybe it could take. I'one thousand non an historian or anything, only information technology just seems like they were request to become defenseless and then get in serious problem. The authors did mention the fears of them doing things together and being together, but that's it. There was no bodily danger. Maybe we can put this book under fantasy, or, like I said in the title of this review WISHFUL THINKING. I'm also glad the book ended where it did, because I think there'due south a very nighttime future for them.

Rather a disappointment

The overall is rather trite, a real thwarting from these authors. Repetitions in a couple of scenes as though at that place was a copy-paste moment there, a very unconvincing cliché damsel-in-distress reaction from a seasoned warrior in a professional situation, and a predictable outcome... Finished by and large for the pleasant sound performane. Itbwas a tiny flake monotone at times, only probubly due to the text itself. And I loved Cohen's no-nonsense manner, and a number of other secondary characters' vocalism interpretations very much. So many cheers to Mr. Todd Scott, mostly.

Non Bad For A Victorian Novel

I must confess I've never been a fan of Victorian Era anything. I read this because I've actually enjoyed Bonnie Dee'south writing on other books. But, the story couldn't quite overcome the negatives for me, making it a so-and so read.

I didn't much intendance for the narrator. He wasn't bad, but also didn't capture my attention and the ii main characters' voices sounded much besides stuffy-middle-aged-Victorian to lend them any real sexual intensity.

The story was adept and the mystery was not one I figured out right abroad, so that was interesting.

If y'all're addicted to Victorian Romance, you'll like this. If yous aren't, it won't inspire you to wait for more in that era. For me, information technology was "Yep, that's what I expected. I won't exist going dorsum in that location again."

Terrific Spy Story! Wonderful Performance by Scott

Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon always come with a proficient plot, and The Nobleman and the Spy is a truly terrific spy story! They wrapped me into the plot from the opening scene, and it never permit upward.

Fans of these authors also know what spectacular physical romance scenes are in each of their novels. Terrfic chemistry between Jonathan and Karl, and I really enjoyed the unsafe edge which surrounds their coupling.

Sound performed by Todd Scott who does a tremendous task - espescially with all of the different accents and the German. Well washed!
